We believe it is important for students to learn both book knowledge and practical knowledge. As the world has become more specialized, and busy, the practical knowledge has become difficult for parents to pass on to the next generation. We aim to fill that gap. We offer a high-quality classical education (literature, history, mathematics, etc.), followed every afternoon by classes in hands-on skills (sewing, woodworking, cooking, etc.).

An underlying theme throughout all of our efforts is the concept that, as children of God, our students were created to recognize and appreciate the good, the true, and the beautiful in the world around them; and that with an education at AJW, they'll bring more of that into the world.

As strong believers in the principle of subsidiarity (pushing responsibility to to lowest possible level), we recognize that the responsibility for a child's education lies with the parents, not the state, and thus view the school as serving the parents.
